Brian obtained his law degree from Dalhousie University in 1975. Prior to attending law school, Brian studied Political Science and English at Saint Mary’s University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.
Brian is now retired but serves as counsel to Newton & Associates.
Brian Newton began his career in law in 1977 when he joined the Public Prosecution Service of Nova Scotia. After serving the province for 11 years as a Crown Attorney, Brian joined the law firm of MacIntyre MacKinnon in 1989. Brian went on to establish his own law firm in 1995 when he founded Newton & Associates. Brian was called to the Bar in Nova Scotia in 1976, was appointed a Queens Council in 1992, and he is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. Throughout his nearly 40-year career in law, Brian has practiced in the areas of Criminal, Family, Litigation, Real Estate, Wills & Estates. Brian is a resident of Cole Harbour, NS and has served the community as a minor hockey coach for a number of years. He is also a frequent guest speaker throughout HRM. During his time away from the office, Brian enjoys curling and playing golf.
